It pleases me to no end to announce that finally after what feels like days of hard work and patience – I am being published in a major newspaper!
It’s true! Today my article “Local Children Head "Into the Woods"” – a scintillating expose detailing the sordid lives of the children of community theater – is being published in…
Are you ready for it?
The Warrior – our elementary school newspaper!
Not only that, but it’s been syndicated.
To the middle school.
Stop cheering…no, really, your applause is too much. Settle down now.
Not to brag, but this achievment is a direct result of the dedication and commitment I show in my role as our theater’s
publicist/refreshment coordinator.
Now, I know that there are many of you out there who are still toiling away, firing off pieces for lesser know names like Parents Magazine and Time and whatnot and are wondering how you might achieve a level of success like mine. All I can tell you is - hold onto your dreams. These major publication companies can be tough to break into. For example, I had to call Isabel, the school secretary, THREE times before I got the go-ahead.
But in the end, it was worth it. There, between “Illness of the Week” and “Ski Club sign-ups” sits my brilliant debut.
I’ll remember you all in my Pulitzer acceptance speech.

Lol. Good Girl. I'm very proud of you. I'm still trying to get up the courage to submitt to magazines...so I think you're doing AMAZING!
I am honored to be able to say "I knew her when!" I feel so special. Congratulations!! ;-)
Hey BetaMom,
As the ranking news professional in this corner of the blogsphere, I feel compelled (for no other reason than ego and/or vanity :) to advise you (totally unsolicited….naturally) that you’ll have better luck if you incorporate some of the time-tested news buzz words into your “copy.”
For example: Attribute anything and everything you write to someone other than you the writer .... “The sky is blue,” according to God. …or better yet “Sources say that the sky is blue.”
And don’t forget that old reporter’s chestnut “could not be reached for comment.”
Forget the Pulitzer; you’ll know that you’ve REALLY made it when you observe the perfect hairdo with the million-dollar smile and room-temperature IQ at the anchor desk reading your hard-written story as if it were their own.
We’ll that’s the news and I am outta here....
Be good :)

I'm starting on the patience and perseverance thing right now -- it took me SECONDS to get to the comments page.
Hi from Bossy's page-- F. Murray sends his love!
Dude! The Warrior!? If you can make it there, you can make it ANYWHERE!
Congrats, betamom. And remember, the slotted spoon does catch the potato!
Beta Mom, way to go, those school publishers are tough bastards, so you've broken through! Now go and pour some extra lemon juice in your wine to celebrate. :)
WOW!
Soon you'll be bigger than Hannah Montana
This is exactly why I told you to do your homework and pay attention in school!! (That Isabel has really let her position go to her head!! She'll be sorry once you're published at the high school!)
By the way, Sweetie, love your title at the community theatre.
Love you. Mom
Ain't no stopping you now!
Thank, thank you all!
Leanne - yes sometimes my courage even amazes me.
Smiling mom - Either that, or someday you'll have to deny ever having known me!
FBW - Ummmm, I don't think you're the ranking news professional anymore! (Just kidding - very funny comments!) Also, God is one of your sources? Kinda makes it unfair for the rest of us, doesn't it?
Foolery - This is the beginning of a beautiful blogship.
Thanks, Mac! This week it's more like "The closer to the family, the closer to the wine!"
Susan - I think with my new prestige, I should have someone else squeezing my lemons. Wait...that didn't come out right.
Creative Dad - Dare I dream THAT BIG?!
Mom - I think this comes from not paying attention in school and doing my homework like you told me to.
Don't worry about Isabel - now that I'm big time I'm thinking of having her fired.
Mike - On fire!
Alpha Dogma - Thanks!
Dude, Published! Move over Hemingway.
You go girl! Sorry I have been MIA but thanks for coming by!
WOW, I do still yell at my kids, sometimes its just not avoidable! The things they do! Then you gotta take a breather!
What a great post! I have a great saturday afternoon planned! I start off with a full body massage, manicure/pedicure, then a nice glass of wine at the restaurant down stairs! The restaurant has the best Chicken parmigiana I have ever had! Its a small family owned place! Why do the small places have the best food! UGH!
Have a great weekend!

So, um, are we going to get to read this hot article?
(Also, "Illness of the Week?" Really?)
Wow, uh, congratulations?
Brilliant!
Today, The Warrior. Tomorrow, The Daily Planet.
It does so exist.
